As expected, Shane Roller (10-5 MMA, 1-2 UFC) has stepped in to replace injured Cody McKenzie (12-2 MMA, 1-2 UFC) and now meets fellow lightweight Michael Johnson (9-6 MMA, 1-2 UFC) at this month's UFC on FOX 2 event.
MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) first broke news of the change earlier this week, and UFC officials formally announced it.
UFC on FOX 2 takes place Jan. 28 at United Center in Chicago.
The night's three-fight main card airs live on FOX, and the preliminary card, including Roller vs. Johnson, airs on FUEL TV.
It could be a make-or-break fight for Roller, who's dropped his past twobouts inside the octagon. The Team Takedown fighter originally suffereda third-round submission loss to T.J. Grant at UFC Versus 6 and wasknocked out cold by Melvin Guillard at UFC 132. The setbacks erased thememory of a spectacular octagon debut for the lightweight in which heknocked out Thiago Tavares at UFC on Versus 3.
Johnson may not be in much better a position. The veteran of "TheUltimate Fighter 12" was tapped out in the first round by submissionspecialist Paul Sass at UFC on Versus 6. Prior to that, he blew EddieFaaloloto out of the water at UFC on Versus 4, but his graduation fromthe "TUF" house came with a decision loss to Jonathan Brookins that costhim the reality-show crown.
