Lightweight Bobby Green (17-5 MMA, 2-1SF) has been forced out of a lightweight bout with Alonzo Martinez (35-15-1 MMA, 0-0 SF) at next week's "Strikeforce: Rockhold vs. Jardine" event.
Sources close to the event today told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) that Green sufferedan undisclosed injury. Officials are searching for a replacement.
"Strikeforce: Rockhold vs. Jardine" takes place Jan. 7 at The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.
The night's main card airs on Showtime, and Green vs. Martinez was one of four preliminary-card fights slated to air on Showtime Extreme.
Green was looking for his third straight win under the Strikeforce banner.After a close split-decision defeat to notable Gesias "JZ"Cavalcante in his July promotional debut, he's since rebounded forsubmission victories over Charon Spain and J.P. Reese on StrikeforceChallengers cards. He's now 3-1 over his past four fights and 6-2 overhis past eight. Fifteen of his 17 career wins have come via stoppage.
