by MMAjunkie.com Staff on Jan 06, 2012 at 3:20 pm ETFormer UFC light-heavyweight champion Tito Ortiz is sorta, kinda fighting tonight on CBS.
The budding thespian has a guest-star role on tonight's new episode of "CSI: NY."
Ortiz plays the role of an MMA fighter during tonight's show, which is dubbed "Clean Sweep." The one-hour episode airs on CBS at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
In the episode, a charred body turns into a hot mess for the CSIs when it appears a cage fighter has been murdered by his stalker. Ortiz's character, Derek Petrov, is a suspect in the case.

This isn't Ortiz's first acting gig. His acting credits include a guest-star role on "Numb3rs," as well as films such as "The Dog Problem," "The Crow: Wicked Prayer " and "Cradle 2 the Grave."
"CSI: NY," a spinoff of the popular "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" series, debuted in 2004. More than 170 episodes have been produced of the show, which averages about 11 million weekly viewers.
Ortiz (16-10-1 MMA, 15-10-1 UFC), who first debuted with the UFC nearly 15 years ago, most recently competed at UFC 140, where he suffered a TKO loss to Antonio Rogerio Nogueira. While once the biggest name in the sport, he's just 1-6-1 in his past eight fights. The 36-year-old vet has hinted he'd like one more fight this summer before calling it quits on his career.
